Here are the facts:
Who will be impacted?
Millions in New York State! An essential part of our economy is the food and agricultural industry. Those dollars are the basis and heart of our great state. Exploration of careers, technology, basics of farming, and much more will enhance understanding of the economic and agricultural system and make a difference in our state's future.
What will it do?
This tool will enable users to test their knowledge about where their food comes from and other fun agriculture facts.
This is the development and creation of an innovative agricultural educational tool that uses an interactive touch screen to engage the general public in a Q & A session. The portable "kiosk" is made from industrial components. The system can operate 24 hours, 7 days a week, 365 days a year unattended. The equipment is vandal resistant and designed for ease of use by the general public. A display area on the front panel will allow us to draw attention to the kiosk and to agriculture!
The interactive display will not only be eye-catching, but will also relate a true picture of agriculture by creating greater understanding via a professional-looking, first rate presentation. The program will include ten categories (four on-screen for each game) with multiple choice, matching and true/false questions in a "Jeopardy" style format. Photographs will enable the player a clear visual of each agricultural category. A rotating database of questions will present a variety of different game boards. The pictures will represent agriculture at its best and supply necessary visuals for a public largely unfamiliar with agriculture.
The “Mini” was funded by the
Agway Foundation
The “Kiosk” travel is
