STORIES OF AGRICULTURE:

The New York Farm Bureau Foundation is collecting short personal stories (with pictures) that focus on either (1) a personal experience connecting to agriculture and/or (2) a story that tells about a day in the life of an active agriculturist.  We will be assembling these two collections to be used as a public interest series.  A Day in the Life of a Farmer/Agriculturist can portray any sector of ag and would be able to carry the message of family farming (regardless of the size of the operation 99%+ are indeed family operations).

Guidelines for YOUR STORY submissions:
1: All New York residents (present and past) or those who stories are based on New York agriculture are eligible to submit.
2: Article length - one page, size 10 font. If the story exceeds this length, it may be divided into parts of a "set" to meet space requirements that the media may allot.
3: If a specific commodity is represented it must be noted on the header of the submission.
4: A signed release must accompany all submissions of stories and pictures. (Available below)
5: Names of persons in pictures and/or descriptions of pictures must accompany submission.
6: We urge the use of "family" in pictures and stories to allow communication of the true family farm ownership within New York State.
7: All pictures should be in high resolution digital format (jpg format), with a minimum of 300dpi.

Stories:

So start thinking about and writing your story and be part of a new education process that will engage the public and make them aware of the different roles within the agricultural community, what agriculture really means to them, what an average day might include and an impression of good stewardship, family strength and a commitment and work ethic beyond anything they have ever known.

We want to hear from YOU! Series will not be started until sufficient submissions have been received and project fully detailed.
