2010-2011
Calendar
Agricultural Education School Calendar
The
Foundation designs and
distributes approximately
3,500 agricultural School
Calendars for use in third
grade classrooms across New
York State.
It is a ten-month
calendar, following the
school year schedule, which
showcases a different
commodity for each month and
an “Ag fact” for each day.
We secure sponsorship
for each month from
commodity groups & others
within New York State.
We also have several
County Farm Bureaus that
sponsors individual days
throughout the school
calendar year.
The County Farm
Bureaus choose a day and
highlight a specific
agricultural fact or event!
The
monthly sponsors include:
The American Dairy
Association and Dairy
Council, Empire State Potato
Growers, NYS Maple
Producers, NYS Wine &
Culinary Center, NY Apple
Association, NY Beef
Industry Council and NY Pork
Producers.
The County Farm
Bureaus that supported the
2010-2011 calendar include
Essex, Greene, Long Island,
Otsego and Wayne.
The overall sponsor
is The Northeast Ag
Education Foundation Inc.,
who has continually
supported our efforts to get
agricultural facts into
elementary level classrooms.

Teachers
from all over New York State
have been emailing their
thoughts and comments about
our calendar.
The consensus is that
it “works” in the classroom!
We want to thank all
of our sponsors and alert
everyone that we are now
working on the 2011-2012
model and there is an
opportunity for everyone,
for every commodity
organization, every business
and every Farm Bureau to be
a sponsor.
In times with
escalating mailing costs, we
are presently researching
alternative delivery options
utilizing our own
grassroots.
Please,
let us know if you have
ideas or would like to be
involved in any way.
The Foundation prints and distributes 3,000-3,500 calendars covering the period September through June. These calendars are distributed to third grade classes throughout the state. The calendar is produced in full color with daily agricultural facts and a monthly activity. Beginning in 2006-7 there is a focus on nutrition and healthy eating.
