To inform and educate all New Yorkers regarding agriculture and to increase understanding of agriculture between the farm and non-farm public. We are a 501 c3 "Charitable" Education Foundation.
New Foundation Director Appointed
The Foundation Board of Directors oversees the Foundation projects, activities, and the fundraising efforts that support and provide for the tools and resources created. When a Board position recently became available, we were faced with the task of filling the seat with someone with a passion for agricultural education. We have added some tremendous talent and expertise with the appointment of Mr. Jeffrey Quinn, Sales Associate Vice President for Nationwide Insurance, North East Sales Regional Operations.
Jeff has been in the insurance industry many years, but his roots are in agriculture. He grew up in Camden, (Oneida County) NY, with a small dairy operation on his family's property, which was leased to a local farmer. In the late 70's, the milking operation was phased out and the agricultural enterprise was transitioned to heifers and feed crops. Jeff graduated with a BA in economics from the State University of New York at Oswego.
Jeff feels "that the NYFB Foundation is important as farming impacts every person and every family by providing the necessary nutrients to survive. Due to the comparative size of the agricultural voice to other industries, gaps in awareness at times create misunderstandings that can ultimately effect regulation and costs. These decisions increase cost which must be absorbed and ultimately passed on to the consumer through fewer choices and higher prices. It is critical to agriculture and the families of New York that we educate the non-farming public about the importance of protecting the livelihood of the agricultural industry. With knowledge comes awareness, which allows leaders to make informed decisions on the future of our communities."
Jeff is committed to education in a variety of forms, and the NYFB Foundation will provide an opportunity for him to follow his passion and help the Foundation to accomplish its goals. Jeff lives in Camillus with his wife Catherine. They have three children, Brian, 26; Zachary, 23; and Ian 21. In his spare time he enjoys camping, fishing and hunting. Please join us in welcoming Jeff to the NYFB Foundation Board.
